Vietnamese Language School

Văn Lang is a volunteer-run nonprofit Vietnamese language school based in Portland, Oregon. We offer classes for students from 1st through 10th grade. Our students are primarily children of Vietnamese descent, and we also welcome non-native English speaking adults. Our nonprofit Vietnamese Sunday school serves the Vietnamese youth in Portland, Oregon, and surrounding areas, with a heartfelt mission to preserve and promote the richness of Vietnamese language, culture, and history. Each Sunday, our dedicated team of volunteer teachers provides lessons in Vietnamese speaking, reading, and writing, helping students build a strong foundation in their heritage language. Beyond language instruction, we also introduce students to Vietnamese customs, traditions, holidays, and historical events—fostering a deep appreciation and understanding of their cultural roots. Our curriculum is designed not only to educate but also to inspire pride in Vietnamese identity, especially among second-generation Vietnamese Americans. In addition to academic instruction, we place a strong emphasis on community-building and personal development. Our school serves as a nurturing space where children and families come together, form lasting friendships, and celebrate shared values. By creating a supportive and inclusive environment, we aim to help students grow into confident, respectful, and community-minded individuals.
